The Learning Licence (LL) test, commonly called the LLR test, is a computer-based multiple-choice exam conducted at your local RTO (Regional Transport Office). It is the mandatory first step before you can apply for a permanent driving licence in India.
The LLR test has 15 multiple-choice questions. You must answer at least 9 out of 15 correctly (60% passing mark) to pass. The test is available in English and Hindi. Choose your language when applying on the Sarathi Parivahan portal.

Extend your right hand horizontally with the palm facing forward. This is the correct hand signal as per Motor Vehicle Act rules and is commonly tested in the LLR exam.

It shows the driver holds a Learner Licence. Displaying a visible "L" sign on the front and rear of the vehicle is compulsory while driving on a learning licence. Failure can attract a penalty.
"No Entry": this mandatory sign prohibits all vehicles from entering that road. Mandatory road signs (red circular signs) are the most tested category in the LLR exam traffic signs section.
18 years. For non-geared two-wheelers up to 50cc, the minimum age is 16 years with parental consent. Age eligibility is commonly tested in the RTO learning licence exam.
